Madhya Pradesh itineraries
Unlike nearby Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh (MP) still remains fairly off the tourist beat, and there are many treasures to be discovered by the intrepid explorer.
The state is blessed with a lot of natural forest cover, with tiger sanctuaries and national parks. It has three UNESCO World Heritage sites at Khajuraho, Sanchi and Bhimbetka. It has bustling cities, forts, palaces, a vibrant textile tradition, tribal art and craft, and a rich cuisine. It is easy to combine MP with Delhi and Agra, or with Mumbai, because there are very good train and flight connections.
Indore or Bhopal are good starting points for longer itineraries through Madhya Pradesh; but you can also start from many other cities. If you begin a road trip from Indore, you can make your way in about 4hrs to the city of Bhopal to see the World Heritage Sites at Sanchi and Bhimbetka. You can enjoy the nawabi culture of Bhopal, and journey further to the hill station of Pachhmarhi. A little further are the famous Marble Rocks at Jabalpur, and then further ahead is the tiger sanctuary at Bandhavgarh. From Bandhavgarh, you can journey onwards to visit Khajuraho, Orchha, Jhansi and Gwalior.
If you are planning a longer trip through MP, we would be happy to recommend a plan based on your interests. Usually our packages include itinerary planning, hotels, ground transport, guided tours as well as safaris and other experiences.
Let us know how many days you have, and what your interests are. We will create a plan based on that.
